It's not just a run anymore!
Zombie Run in conjunction with the State Theater is pleased to announce the State of the Dead Film Festival, October 28-29 at the State Theater.
We will be dedicating Friday night and Saturday evening to the zombie genré!
You may have seen Shaun of the Dead so many times that you know every line by heart, that's why we're doing this zomromcom (zombie romantic comedy) in Quote-Along.
What is a quote-along? We'll have all of your favorite lines subtitled karaoke-style so that they pop up on the screen in white seconds before the character says the line, then highlighted in yellow along with the dialog so you can yell out in your best British accent "You have red on you" or "she's so drunk!"
Stick around after the movie Friday night for the Zombie Prom party, right at the State! There will be dancing, music, and for those over 21 RBB beer, as well as other surprises! Oh and yes, we encourage everyone to dress up as ZOMBIES!
Saturday evening we will start things up again with several Zombie Shorts, including Year Zero fresh from the Tribeca Film Festival followed by Harold's Going Stiff a new zombie indie from across the pond that takes the genera to a whole new level! If you loved "Shaun" you will definitely want to see "Harold".
We will also be showing the best zombie movie ever made, George Romero's gore fest, the original 1978 Dawn of the Dead. If that's not gory enough for you, at midnight we will be showing one of the most disturbing films ever made, Peter Jackson's Dead Alive! Don't forget your cell phone because we're doing this film in Hecklevision! You text it we project it!
Happy Halloween Zombies!
All proceeds from this event will go to support the STATE THEATER!

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
It's some time after the dead have started to rise and attack the shocked living, and civilization has started to crumble. In the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, TV station workers Stephen and Francine decide to run as the situation worsens. After meeting Roger and Peter (two special policemen ordered to move any people into rescue stations), who have also chosen to run, they steal the station's helicopter and fly west in an attempt to find a safe place. After several attempts during their flight across Pennsylvania, they find a deserted mega-mall in Monroeville, outside Pittsburgh and decide to wait there until the crisis is over. They clear the mall of the undead and board the entrances up with tractor-trailers and then sit down and wait. Can they hold out, not only against the growing, moaning, and hungry masses of the undead outside, against murderous looters, but most importantly of all, can they hold out and not lose their sanity...?

Enter Penny, (Sarah Spencer) a cheerful, dedicated but lonely nurse, as his care helper. She'll engage in therapy with him, to delay the disease's effects. However, during the onset of the disease's later stages, loss of mental faculties and violent behavior is inevitable. Already there have been reports of attacks, which prompt a trio of baseball bat wielding vigilantes to patrol the area, taking down any errant zombie they happen to find. Meanwhile, Harold is still getting by, and starting a tentative friendship with Penny. Will a cure be found? Or will Harold have to be taken out like so many before him?
